Fabric advice

For the long trouser version, it’s best to choose a fabric with enough structure to maintain the characteristic barrel shape. Fabrics such as denim, linen, seersucker, canvas or cotton twill are therefore ideal. Stretch or comfort stretch is not necessary, as the fit itself already provides plenty of freedom of movement. If you do choose a fabric with stretch, make sure to properly stabilise the curved seams to prevent them from rippling during sewing or wear. For the shorts version, lightweight and fluid fabrics work beautifully if you’d like to create airy summer shorts or comfortable pyjama shorts.
